overview : THE WALKER AFRICAN-AMERICAN MUSEUM & RESEARCH CENTER is a non-profit tax-exempt organization designed to promote and preserve the history of people of African descent locally, nationally, and ultimately internationally. - The proposed 10,000 square foot facility will house a museum display area, an art gallery, a genealogy research center, a retail gift store and an old fashioned sweet shop. The temporary site is located at "H", Jackson and Van Buren Streets in the heart of the "Old West Las Vegas" area where so much of of Las Vegas' Black History was made.
