overview : Dedicated to the research, preservation, and interpretation of the natural and cultural heritage of the Middle Appalachian Region. - On July 4th, 1998, the interim facility, a converted store building, was opened. Since that time, the museum's attendance has grown to an average of well over a thousand visitors per month. As of this time, the interim site has reached its full capacity and efforts are now focused on the building of a permanent home for the Museum of the Middle Appalachians.
