overview : The focus of the Piney Point Lighthouse Museum & Park is the interpretation of the Piney Point Lighthouse built on the shore of the Potomac River in 1836. The Museum also interprets the sunken German submarine, the Black Panther U-1105, a stealth weapon from WWII. This site offers picnic and pier facilities and is available by boat and welcomes pre-arranged group tours.
collections : The Museum houses a collection of maritime artifacts, documents and photographs pertaining to the Piney Point Lighthouse and the Potomac River. The Museum also houses artifacts from the sunken German submarine, the Black Panther U-1105.
hours (subject to change) : The grounds of the Piney Point Lighthouse are open sunrise to sunset 7 days a week. The Museum and Gift Shop are open seasonally Friday through Monday from 12 noon to 5 pm.
