overview : The building which is now the Old Lighthouse Museum was built in 1858, replacing the 1837 lighthouse built on the same site. - Thru all kinds of weather, the keepers had to climb to the lantern twice nightly at dusk and midnight to trim the wick, polish the reflectors and recharge the light with lard oil or kerosene.
