overview : The Museum of Florida History, the state history museum, exists to collect, preserve, exhibit, and interpret the material record of human culture in Florida and to promote and encourage, throughout the state, knowledge and appreciation of Florida history. In these efforts, the Museum considers people as they shape and react to social, political, economic, religious, and cultural changes and as they interact with their natural and human environments. The Museum is concerned primarily with interpreting those events and conditions that are unique to Florida’s population, but also those events in which Floridians are part of larger national and global communities.

collections : The MFH collections contain 44,829 historical artifacts dating primarily from the mid-19th century to the present. They represent cultural and ethnic groups, all of Florida’s geographical areas, and the variety of activities in which Floridians engage.
