overview : Mission San Jose, founded in 1797 was the most successful Mission in Northern California-thousands of cattle, horses and sheep, acres of corn and wheat, and olives-vast orchards and tree lined avenues of olives. - Much has changed since the Mission days, but celebrating the olive harvest continues. The Mission grounds come alive with a barbecue, live entertainment and a display of old fashioned farm equipment. This one day event is held in October.
