overview : The idea of building a windmill museum as a tourist attraction for the Kendallville area was adopted in March of 1992 by the Kendallville Local Development Corporation (KLDC). - Because of the concentration of windmill manufacturers within the tri-state area the directors voted to name the museum the 'Mid-America Windmill Museum'.

collections : To date, eight windmills have been completely restored, with four already erected on the outside premises, which includes a 'flagship' windmill located near the barn on a 50' tower. Eight additional windmills are in the process of restoration. A restored collection of 10 windmills will be added to the spring of 1997.
