Haines Mill MuseumAllentown, PA, 18101 610-435-4664 overview : Built before the Revolution, it originally provided a part-time service to local farmers. - The mill was gutted by fire in 1908 and the interior rebuilt a year later, by which time the miller served as an intermediary between Pennsylvania German farmers and bakeries and flour wholesalers. - By the 1950s, however, national competition was putting small, family-operated mills out of business; Haines Mill ceased operations in 1956. hours (subject to change) : Sat and Sun 1-4 May-Sept |
