overview : The Golden Eagle River Museum is located in the Nims Mansion, built in 1927 by Mr. And Mrs. Eugene Dutton Nims. Mr. Nims was an organizer and early president of the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. - The Oliver C. Parmely Library is housed on the second floor of the Nims mansion. It contains a wide variety of books on maritime history, navigation and fiction, as well as many pamphlets, maps, newspaper clippings and photographs about steamboats, towboats, bridges, rivermen and river history.
