overview : Organized 1960, and opened in the former Gilbert Elementary School in 1982. Building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. Collects, exhibits and interprets Gilbert history from 1920. - Collections include objects donated by original settlers; each artifact is accompanied by a history and description of its use in early Gilbert. Artifacts include furniture, quilts, tools, maps and photographs, fire engines and firearms. Exhibits include a Western Room and an Artillery Room.
