overview : The home of General Daniel Bissell, a Revolutionary War soldier who settled in the St. Louis area, was built after his return from active duty in the War of 1812. It is estimated the house was completed no later than 1818 making it one of the oldest homes in St. Louis. The house was built in the Federal style, a style not usually found outside of the East at that time.
