collections : Garden in the Woods is a marvelous living museum, accredited by the American Association of Museums and described by the Boston Globe as 'the eye-popping showcase for native plants-there can be few more beautiful places on the planet' . The focus is the native plants of temperate North America, all displayed in habitat gardens with instructive labels. See rare ladyslippers, unusual plants of the Jersey Pine Barrens, native trees, and thousands of examples of our native plant heritage. The Society offers 270 courses and workshops annually-the largest native plant education program in the country.
hours (subject to change) : Open daily 9-7 mid April through June 15th. Open Tuesday through Sunday June 16-October 31st. Courses and gift shop open all year. Tours daily at 10 except Sundays at 2. Cart tours for those needing mobility assistance and group tours available by reservation at bdrexler@newfs.org. Special Events all season. BIG BUGS July 17-October 17 2004. Plant Sale June 12th 2004
