overview : In an effort to meet the community's expectations of a modern museum and art school, the Flint Institute of Arts is undergoing a major renovation. It is a demanding process for staff, volunteers, and visitors. We all, however, keep the long-range advantages of the project in mind. Renovation will allow the FIA to be more effective in the areas of exhibition, education, preservation, administration and public access. During the renovation, the FIA will exhibit its collection at alternate locations throughout the state. Art classes will be held at 924 Cedar Street in Flint, until January 2005, when the new studios at 1120 E. Kearsley Street will open. Although this enormous endeavor takes time, it will have tremendous reward when the museum reopens mid-2005. Visit the website below for exhibition and class listings. www.flintarts.org.
