overview : The Eleutheros Cooke House was built by Sandusky's first lawyer and the father of Jay Cooke, the financier of the civil war, in 1843-1844 on what is now a downtown corner. - It was moved to 1415 Columbus Avenue in the latter part of the 1870's and rebuilt. - Managed by The Old House Guild of Sandusky for the Ohio Historical society.
