overview : The "Cultural Crossroads on the Arkansas," El Pueblo History Museum has always been a gathering place for diverse peoples and cultures. The site included an 1840s-style adobe trading post and plaza, and the archaeological excavation for the original 1842 El Pueblo trading post. This new museum building, opened in September 2003, showcases the various cultural and ethnic groups in Pueblo and the region. Exhibitions include The Crossroads, First Peoples, Exploring the New Land, Traders and Early Settlement, A City Grows, Steel City of the West, Crossroads of Cultures, Seeking Respite in the Outdoors, and The City at the Crossroads. The site also features the Frontier Pathways Scenic and Historic Byways Information Center.

collections : American Indian collection of beaded garments, pouches, baskets, and stonework. Artifacts and images from the fur trade era, including furs, hides, and the carved, wooden grain chest owned by William Bent of Bent's Fort. French and Spanish armor.
