overview : The museumÌs Center for the Study of Early Tools is devoted to the recovery, display and interpretation of old hand tools. Visitors to the museum in Liberty can see, touch and learn about the tools of the early trades of Maine and New England from the colonial period to the Civil War. Museum visitors are encouraged to experience old hand tools as historical artifacts and as a vehicle for learning about Maine and American history, the Industrial Revolution and the art of tool making.
