overview : Chieftains Museum, a stop on Georgia's scenic 150-mile Chieftains Trail, opened in 1971. Chieftains houses permanent exhibitions that include a diorama of a 16th century Native American Indian village, Cherokee artifacts from archaeological digs on the Chieftains' site, and exposed handhewn logs of the original log cabin. Local artists and other special events are the focus of rotating exhibits.
