overview : This popular attraction, located in North Tonawanda, New York offers an opportunity to visit an actual historical site in an area of major significance to the previous carousel and band organ manufacturing business in America. While the Herschell Carrousel Factory no longer produces carrousels, the former site is operated by the Carousel Society of The Niagara Frontier, Inc., as a cultural, educational and recreational center, assisted by a dedicated group of enthusiasts.
collections : The museum has two operating restored examples of Allan Herschell carrousels. A beautiful full size 3 abreast machine manufactured in 1916 features a circular "tub" for folks not daring enough to ride the jumping horses. A Wurlitzer style 125 band organ provides the music for the ride.
