overview : This local museum includes an 1860's, fully furnished log cabin which testifies to Cañon City's place as an early frontier town. - It's beginnings include the location of the territorial prison but it was ranching, farming and ore processing that molded Cañon City into a thriving community.

collections : The Municipal Museum complex includes three historic buildings and two large galleries. The focus of the major collections is the natural history and material culture of the Fremont County region from approximately 1860-1950.
