overview : To collect, preserve and develop appreciation of the history of Burt County and artifacts associated with that history and to educate the public in connection therewith. - Burt County's Museum is located at Tekamah, Nebr., in the historic E.C. Houston House, built in 1904. Mr. Houston, a prominent businessman, was the owner of the Houston Lumber Company. - Founded in 1967, the museum moved to its current home in 1985 after outgrowing its former site downtown in Tekamah. - The interior of the fourteen-room E.C. Houston House remains much as it was with beautiful cut-glass windows in the reception room, above the stair landing, and in the parlor.
