overview : Beulah Rucker was a long-time educator and community leader who pioneered the development of educational opportunities for African-American children and veterans during the first half of this century .. she saw education as the key to unlocking the future for children and was instrumental in establishing, in 1911, an industrial school, later known as the Beulah Rucker Industrial School, for the purpose of "building Christian character and developing good citizenship".
