overview : Established at Bethel, Maine, in 1966, the Bethel Historical Society provides visitors with a doorway to the past from its Regional History Center in the heart of historic Bethel Hill Village, founded in 1774 on a prominent rise above the Androscoggin River. The Regional History Center consists of two adjoining properties on Broad Street the 1821 ONeil Robinson House and the 1813 Dr. Moses Mason House, both listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
collections : The Bethel Historical Society's museum and library collections include a wide range of materials documenting the heritage of northern New England, with major concentrations devoted to the history of western Maine and the White Mountains.
