overview : Bergstrom-Mahler Museum is known world-wide for its specialized permanent collections of glass, particularly its paperweights and Germanic glass drinking vessels. The museum also serves as a community arts center. It presents more than a dozen temporary exhibits every year featuring many different types of art from national, regional, and local artists. Its educational offerings include lectures, artist demonstrations, workshops, guided tours, and art classes for children and adults. A new glass studio was recently completed, giving artists and community members an opportunity to try fusing, slumping, and flameworking glass.
collections : Permanent collections consist of: the world's finest collection of glass paperweights, dating from the mid-19th century to the current year; Germanic glass drinking vessels, dating from 1573 to the late 19th century; contemporary glass from a variety of modern artists; and Victorian glass baskets, primarily from England and America during the Victorian era.
hours (subject to change) : Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Saturday, 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Sunday, 1 - 4:30 p.m.
