overview : The Baranov Museum is housed in one of only four Russian-built structures remaining in the United States today. Originally built by Aleksandr Baranov in the early 1800's as a fur warehouse, it is the only log building remaining in Kodiak on its original site. . . . It holds the distinction of being the only Russian structure to warehouse the commercial activities of both the Russian American Company and the Alaska Commercial Company. These enterprises shaped the face of northwestern America through commerce, administration, law enforcement and exploration.

hours (subject to change) : Summer Hours - Monday through Saturday 10am to 4pm. Winter Hours - Tuesday through Saturday 10am to 3pm.
