overview : The objectives of the society are to encourage historical study and research, to collect & preserve historical material connected with the County of Allegan MI and vicinity, and to house such material where it may be adequately displayed and made accessible.

collections : The Historical Society which had been founded in 1952 offer two fascinating museums that flash-back to more than 150 years of life in the county. THE OLD JAIL MUSEUM features period rooms furnished from the county through generous gifts from many present & former residents. - THE PIONEER VILLAGE located on the Allegan County fairgrounds is another Historical Society project. Built around permanent exhibition buildings housing one of the largest collections of 19th Century farm & home memorabilia in out-state Michigan.
