overview : The Aliceville Museum and Cultural Arts Center is a unique experience. It is the only one of its kind in the whole world, dedicated to a time when the world was at war. In our center you will find artifacts of German Prisoners of World War II. Letters, uniforms, objects of art, statuary, sculpture, photos, and books of this fascinating era of world history. - During World War II approximately 425,000 Axis soldiers were interned in 700 POW camps in the U.S. One of the largest camps was at Aliceville with a capacity for 6,000 prisoners. The camp employed more than 1,000 American military and civilian personnel.
