overview : The Alameda Park Zoo was established in 1898 and is the oldest zoo in the southwest. It was merely a pleasant place for railway travelers to stop and enjoy a little change from the desert scene while the steam powered locomotives were refueled. It only contained a small collection of waterfowl and deer at it's original start up, but today is home for nearly 300 animals from over 90 different species.

hours (subject to change) : open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. everyday except Christmas and New Years.
