overview : The Bureau County Historical Museum consists of two side-by-side houses built before the turnof the century by prestigious members of the community. The first building was given to the museum in the 40's and the second building was just recently required. The combined 6 floors of the museum are full of history. You can find artifacts from almost every time period since the begginning of the county. Most all of the artifacts have been donated by the local people which makes the museum unique. Many people who visit are amazed how much people have donated over the years. We also have on file 20,000 glass negatives from a local photographer, H.W. Immke, who was in business from 1870's to after the turn of the century.
