overview : The historical society owns and operates the Miramont Castle, 9 Capitol Ave. Manitou Springs, Co. as a Victorian home museum. It was built by a French priest in the mid 1890's so that his mother could come and live with him while he tried to regain his health using the healing waters and clean mountain air of Colorado. It has 9 different types of archicture. It then became a TB sanitarium run by the Sisters of Mercy. We have restored much of the 46 room home to what we believe it looked like and are still working on it. We even have part of it as a Victorian tea room open in the summer.
