overview : Our facility is the world's largest medical library, and along with having a fascinating and valuable collection of manuscripts and other treasures, in recent years we have produced successful exhibitions and programs on varied topics. Currently we have an exhibition up on the history of American women physicians. This exhibition will be up until April 2005. Through the use of historic artifacts, multimedia, and an interactive database the exhibition explores the challenges, inspiring achievements, and contributions women have made to medicine since 1850. In addition, the stories and career highlights of over 300 women doctors are told, many of whom come from a variety of ethnic backgrounds and educational experiences. Our next exhibition, which will open in May or June 2005, will be on forensic medicine.
hours (subject to change) : The library is open to the public Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm, and 8:30am to 12:30pm on Saturdays.
