overview : Tucked away behind London's bustling Oxford Street, this historic townhouse a sublime collection of 18th Century French paintings, furniture and porcelain together with some superb Old Master Pictures. Collected by 4 generations of the same family, the Collection was bequethed to the British nation in 1897, and now has free admission to all. Featuring Gainsborough, Reynolds, Boucher, Van Dyke and home to Frans Hals' famous Laughing Cavalier, as well as the largest collection of antique arms and armour outside the Royal Armouries of Leeds.
