overview : Wm. Phelps General Store features a canal era building 1826 steps from the Erie Canal turned into a General Store from 1868 through 1940 owned by the Wm. Phelps family closed in 1940 by son, Julius Phelps, who shut the doors never to operator the store again. A two story home is above the Phelps Store and depicts period furniture from 1875 through 1900. All items still original as they appeared at the height of Wm. Phelps' ownership.
